This project is one of my proudest achievements. I have so much respect for what these guys go through and the sacrifices they have made defending our country.
In Fall 2003, me and 10 other classmates competed to design a memorial for the
1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at Hunter Army Airfield in
Savannah, GA. We were broken up into 4 teams to design what we thought would be best and presented to members of an executive committee to pick the winning design. 2 teams designs were chosen and the best elements from each were combined to create the final memorial design as built in 2007.
My main contribution is the stainless steel centerpiece based on the Fairbairn–Sykes fighting knife. This is a double-edged fighting knife resembling a dagger or poignard with a foil grip developed by William Ewart Fairbairn and Eric Anthony Sykes. This knife is a symbol to Rangers everywhere.
